Resources for Coaches
Periodization Focus Planner
Choose the months when competition happens. The planner will show the main training focus for each part of the year. Choose a sport and add general age and experience details if useful. You can change more settings if needed. This is a general educational tool. It does not assess an athlete or create an individual program.
Use only general team and season details. Do not use names, birth dates, exact ages, health information, injury details, symptoms, test results, growth or maturity data, or return to sport information. This planner uses your choices only in this browser tab. It does not save them or include them in website tracking.
Build your season
Competition calendar and sport
Choose a sport and every month that includes competition. The focus map updates on this page.
Suggested schedule: Continuous season. Choosing a new sport clears your custom sport settings. It keeps your competition months, age group, and experience.
More settings
Add a broad age group and group training experience, or change how the plan is built. These choices do not assess any athlete.
Choose at least one competition month.
Your focus map and current focus will appear here. The map updates when you change a month or setting.

Important limits and sources
- This is a general educational planning tool for coaches.
- It uses season dates and broad settings to make a simple periodization calendar.
- Periodization means choosing which training quality gets the most attention at each point in the year.
- It does not assess an athlete, decide whether a setting is suitable, or create an individual training or rehabilitation program.
- A main focus is a planning priority, not the only quality to train.
- Do not use this tool to make decisions about injury, diagnosis, rehabilitation, return to sport, readiness, risk, medical clearance, or consent.
- Coaches must adapt the result to the sport and schedule.
- They must also consider how each athlete is growing and developing, training history, response to training, available resources, rules that protect athletes, and advice from qualified professionals.
- Age group and training experience do not show an athlete's stage of growth or biological maturity.
- They also do not show if an athlete is ready, how much training the athlete can handle, or if the athlete can give consent.
The sport starting plans use general periodization ideas described by Tudor O. Bompa and Carlo A. Buzzichelli in Periodization Training for Sports. The calendar rules and other planner methods were created for this tool. The authors and publisher do not sponsor or endorse it.
